Oh Hey, The New Year's Here Again

This bright new year is given me
To Live each day with zest
To daily grow and try to be
My highest and my best

It's just a few hours short of 2011. In the Philippines, the feel of the new year's eve is pretty much palpable. The blaring sounds of the videoke machine, the startling noise of the pyrotechnics, the numerous parties hosted to welcome the coming year and the boisterous merry-making sounds of drunkards cannot be missed. Yep, it's the new year's eve alright.

How apt is it that before this year's celebration, me and a bunch of college friends have organized a get-together/ sorta-reunion event just for a couple of hours to catch up on the goings-on of each other's lives. The past few years have been spent chasing our own pavements, away from each other. But one great thing about friends is that no matter how long you haven't seen each other, you still manage to fill in the years with happy chatters and useless musings...just like old times. And I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my college friends to bits!

And in total contrast to the usual clamor of the new year's eve, I'll leave you with quiet, captionless photos of our recent college reunion. There's a surprising lack of group photos of the guys. I think everyone was too excited to even bother with the complete group photo. Before we knew it, the day was over. But they were there feasting on the food and rounding up rivermaya and eraserheads songs. And of course, someone has to take pictures, right? hehe.

Happy New Year! Enjoy the food and the booze. You deserve it!

Channeling Jackie Kennedy -- or not!

Fake Raybans. They're everywhere in the flea market. Because it's dark at the time I bought it and because they're fake, I inadvertently bought a pair of Aviators with one lens significantly darker than the other. I checked out the original Rayban glasses at the optical shop and the price is hefty! Around 10k php on sale. I prolly can buy a Samsung phone from it. And since I can never pass as an Olsen twin with an over-sized glasses, I'll make-do with this fake pair. hoho.

PS: Did you notice that my denim shorts button looks undone?Well it isn't. Just in case you are wondering. :D

I Love The Holidays!

Only a few more hours before Christmas 2010 ends. Funny how time speeds up while you are desperately trying to catch up. It's just a few days shy of 2011. Are you all done creating a resolution list?

I'm not really a firm believer of New Year's resolutions--at least not the whole making a resolution list concept. No amount of lists can change a person not willing to make the necessary changes. While I have a close affinity to words, actions still scream the loudest.

Since we are already on the subject of change and resolution, I might as well dish about the numerous things I would like to accomplish come the year 2011. I would like to be a circumspect overachiever in terms of career. Maybe venture out on my own in affiliate writing or anything that can give me passive income. Yes. Unlike other people who are probably trying to tweak their mindset in becoming a lot more hardworking, patient and diligent next year, I am actually contemplating on getting myself more free time without sacrificing financial independence.

Thankfully, I have learned quite enough about SEO blogging that I probably can start a niche blog that I can squeeze in all in a day's work. /crossing my fingers

I also do want to get in touch with my inner sports girl. If not actually engaging in official sports activities, then perhaps doing physical activities that can actually lessen the multitude of cellulite and fats that threaten to surface because of prolonged sedentary lifestyle.

The idea of a BV-free lifestyle is also quite appealing. That being said, I will stay away from people whose frequent mood changes infect like a flu virus.

I have a lot more things I want to do, change and accomplish come next year. I'll probably take on that list-making challenge, what with my case of juvenile senescence.

Shifting gears, wore this outfit to Michael's annual family reunion. You'll rarely see me in tight-fitting jeans right now. I don't like how it tends to cut off my legs' blood circulation, in addition to it squeezing my thighs and making it look like a holiday rice cake wrapped in banana leaf. But today, I'm making a case for this pair of jeans.

It's actually a hand-me-down from my Aunt's wardrobe (the perks of having a lot of female relatives). Completed the look with the 65-php beanie me and Michael chanced upon while shopping for gifts, the thrifted bag my sister waited for weeks for the price to go down rock bottom, the old woman's thrifted top I got about two weeks ago and the clogs-like pumps I got from eBay.

The Christmas Rush

Greetings from Kathy is Chasing Pavements. Please excuse the tired and pale face. I'm exhausted and disheveled from a day of last-minute Christmas shopping and gift wrapping. I had to do an obligatory outfit photo.

I discarded my blue cardigan and removed my ballet flats. Removed my accessories too.

Christmas is totes stressful for adults. Finding gifts for guys is nothing short of challenging. Most clothes available in department stores look the same to me. They are either stripes, checkered, vectored or plain. I swear my eyes had trouble discerning the differences in colors!

And in the next few weeks, I have to deal with a myriad of events including an upcoming reunion and my 25th birthday in January. Sob! Turning 25 eh? And to top it all off, I'm feeling a little under the weather again. The flu virus is re-awakening! Logging off now to get a bit of rest. Work's going to be hectic again until the 23rd. Wish me luck!

It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

It's the most wonderful time of the year
With the kids jingle belling
And everyone telling you "Be of good cheer"

Is everyone done with their Christmas shopping already? I still have a few presents to buy. And there's the gift-wrapping and gift-sorting to occupy my time. I miss being in a state of ennui. At this rate, I'm probably going to be perpetually busy. Yes. This is my look-at-me-I'm-complaining-but-I-don't-really-mean-it mood. The things we complain about are the things we value the most.

I was hoping, expecting actually, to spend an uneventful Christmas. You know, the same old holiday routine - shopping, budgeting, watching Home Alone 1 and 2, Christmas day mass- the whole shebang. But it turned out that some people are determined to make it a prickly one.

But thanks to a number of lessons I learned this year, I can let all those trifling things pass. I'm just venting it out this one time so I can get it out of my system. Come to think of it, I'm not really venting. I'm probably not making sense so moving on...

Spent most of the day with the boifran Michael. He was thoughtful enough to hold my shopping bags for me and hold my hand while I walk in my skyscraper heels. Seriously, what was I thinking shopping in heels? Earlier this day, wearing heels seems like a plausible idea. How bad can it get, right? An hour later, I can no longer feel my feet--or more accurately, I can no longer feel anything else but my feet. I had to buy flats so I can shop with ease.

Met up with a friend today (Hi Jho!~) and visited my old college. I was expecting a rush of nostalgic feelings. But seeing the multitude of changes they made in our old school, it didn't evoke feelings remotely close to nostalgia. It does not resemble the old school I have in my memories. :'((

So anyway I spent the whole day shopping for presents and I'm still nowhere near done. And I haven't seen The Chronicles of Narnia yet!

I've been yapping about my time constraints but I'm still here, blogging. haha!
